Closure of the Human Services Network (HSNet) website

Posted on June 24, 2021

Dear HSNet Members,

The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) operates the Human Services Network (HSNet) website as a free public information and referral platform on behalf of a number of NSW Government agencies.

We are writing to inform you that DCJ will be closing down the HSNet website in August 2021.

What will closing down the HSNet website mean?
The HSNet website will close down on 4 August 2021.  From 4 August 2021: the HSNet website will no longer be on the internet you will not be able to use the referrals, groups and capacity functions.
You can still search for services
Until the close down date of 4 August 2021 you will still be able to search for services on the HSNet website. After the HSNet website closes on 4 August 2021 you can continue searching for services but this will be done on another website.  DCJ will provide more information about this in the coming weeks.

Can I still use HSNet until 4 August 2021?
Yes, in the meantime you can still use the HSNet website as usual.  For HSNet members who use the referrals, groups and capacity functions DCJ will provide more information about changes to these functions in the coming weeks.

Why is the HSNet website being closed down?
Since HSNet started operating in 2005 the website has been a useful tool for the human services sector and the wider community however over the years HSNet usage has decreased significantly, particularly for the referrals, groups and capacity functions. The service directory remains the most popular function on HSNet. In recent years, other platforms have become available to provide the same functions in HSNet.  Many of these newer platforms are more efficient and more user friendly.  Rather than duplicate these other platforms DCJ will close down the HSNet website.  That means there will be no referrals, groups and capacity functions.  The service directory will still be available from another website.

I want to know more – who can I ask?
If you have any queries or concerns please contact the HSNet team at hsnet@facs.nsw.gov.au
DCJ will provide updates to all HSNet members over the coming weeks.  DCJ will also provide webinars for HSNet members who want to ask further questions about the closure of the HSNet website and how it will impact them or their organisation.

Please be assured that DCJ will work with all HSNet members to make sure the HSNet close down will be as smooth as possible.

Kind regards
