What is NAIDOC Week and why is it celebrated?

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme is – Get up! Stand up! Show up! encouraging all of us to champion institutional, structural, collaborative, and cooperative change while celebrating those who have already driven and led change in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities over generations.

Camden Council invites you to take part in NAIDOC 2022!

Camden Council will host NAIDOC celebrations on Tuesday 5 July during NAIDOC Week with a Flag Raising Ceremony held at 70 Central Avenue, Oran Park followed by a family fun day, from 10am to 1pm.

Join us for our NAIDOC Family Fun Day! Our free family event is back for 2022! Join us in the school holidays to celebrate our history and culture with rides, DIY arts and crafts stalls, music performances and much more!
