Position: Trainee Group Facilitator & Sector Support Officer

 

Status: Part-Time Contract until the 30th of June 2025, 14 hours (2 days between Tuesday & Thursday or 3 days between Monday & Thursday)

 

Grade: Grade 3- Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award  2010   ($37.35– $40.05 per hour)

 

Reporting To: Executive Director

 

Position Purpose: To facilitate volunteer training and to provide backbone support to our sector development officers in their role to inform, provide strategic direction and resource the community service sector across South Western Sydney to deliver better outcomes for families, young people and children.

Sector Connect Incorporated is the peak organisation representing and providing regional leadership to community services in the South Western Sydney Health District with a primary focus on Campbelltown, Camden, Wollondilly and Wingecarribee NSW. We have 24 years of experience as a regional leader, responsive to our region’s changing needs as we identify priority areas for research and planning.

Key Tasks include: Facilitating training to volunteers, co-facilitating volunteer managers network and volunteer managers training, representing sector connect and collaborating with key stakeholders, organising and promoting training, disseminating information and sharing with the sector, responding to enquiries from the sector and supporting the sector development team.  This role will suit someone wanting to move into community sector development.

Other information: Sector Connect is a small, supportive, and inclusive team. You will be working closely with the Sector Development Officers and provided with training and support as needed. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow with the organisation and to utilise any other skills you bring to the table that will support our mission.

ESSENTIAL:

·       Tertiary qualification – bachelor's degree (completed or studying) or equivalent related to the community service sector (social science, psychology, social work, community welfare/ engagement/development, policy, etc.) and experience working in or in partnership with the community service sector

·         Knowledge and sound understanding of the National Standards of Volunteering Involvement

·         Strong people skills with an ability to facilitate networks/groups

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Competency in Microsoft software packages including Outlook, Publisher, Word, Excel and the Internet

·         Able to be flexible and to use your initiative

·         Able to work independently and as part of a diverse team

·         Strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise work and meet short and long-term deadlines

·         Understand and comply with Worker Health and Safety legislation, policies & procedures and inclusive practice

·         A willingness to provide a Working with Children Check and undergo a National Criminal Records Check

 

DESIRABLE:

·                               Experience in volunteering or in the volunteer sector

·                               Experience in or knowledge of child, youth and family-related programs

·                               Current Drivers License
